Rep The Squad!!

Barkhamsted Youth Basketball 2023!

We are now in year three of Barkhamsted Basketball and we have continue to grow and learn! We look forward to another season with everyone.

We will officially begin the last week of November (older groups may have open gym time throughout November  and running though the middle of March.  Registration will close the first week of November  or when we have met our capacity for kids.

We will break up into four different age  groups:

  • K/1st grade: We will be teaching basketball fundamentals with small team games at the end of each session.  Clinics will be held every Saturday for 1 hour at a time.
  • 2nd Grade: We will also be teaching fundamentals but with more interaction for games. Teams will be formed and we will be playing against each 2nd grade team from Barkhamsted. There will be one practice during the week (Monday) with games being played on Saturday.
  • 3rd/4th Grade: Boys and Girls will be separate teams this year with focus on more advanced skills and growing our knowledge of team sports. We will be forming teams and partnering with Hartland, Granby, and Suffield  for weekly games. Practices will be held during the week (Tuesday or Thursday) with games on Saturday
  • 5th/6th Grade:  Both a Boys and Girls League. This will be a competitive Route 44 league. Team(s) will travel and play against other 5th/6th graders from towns along the Rt 44 corridor.  Please note, at this time we will only be having 12 children for each boy and girl  rt 44 team. As numbers come in we will re-evlaute.

We will also evaluate every player based on skill set and age; this could involve them moving up to a higher group or spending more time with a lower group. Basketball is new to a lot of children in town and we want them to succeed!

Each child will be given a Tshirt/uniform from day one and basketballs will also be provided to each team. Please have them wear comfortable shoes and shorts, as well as bring a water bottle.

*Register through this website if you do not want to pay by card, please reach out and we will give you a code to enter for you to pay by check or cash.

** Families registering multiple children please reach out for a 10% discount

You can reach out to John, Jeff, or Ryan with any questions. You can also email admin@barkhamstedbasketball.com and we will answer any questions or address concerns.
